Ga.'s Habersham Bank fails; marks 19th for year

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Habersham Bank of Clarkesville, Ga., became the 19th U.S. bank failure of the year, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Friday. SCBT Financial Corp. will assume Habersham's $339.9 million in deposits. FDIC said the failure will cost its deposit-insurance fund $90.3 million. The bank failure also marks Georgia's fifth for the year.
