Williams lifts natural gas shares

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Shares of natural gas companies rose while the rest of the energy sector lost ground on Thursday, as Williams Cos. rallied on plans to split itself into two companies. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index rose 1.1% to 654, led by a jump of 10% in Willimas. El Paso jumped 4.8%. The NYSE Arca Oil Index fell 0.1% to 1,330. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index dropped 0.5% to 280. Duke Energy rose 2.3%.
