LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Industrial conglomerate SPX Corp. on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to common shareholders of $65.3 million, or $1.29 a share, compared to a net loss of $72.1 million, or $1.46 a share, in the same period the previous year. Adjusted net income per share from continuing operations, which excludes a 17-cent tax benefit, was $1.13 a share, matching the consensus forecast produced by a FactSet Research survey of analysts. Revenues rose slightly to $1.33 billion from $1.32 billion, the Charlotte, N.C.-based firm said. "We are in a strong financial position with sufficient flexibility to continue to make strategic investments as opportunities arise," said Chief Executive Officer Christopher J. Kearney.
