House kills Joint Strike Fighter engine funding

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- House lawmakers on Wednesday voted to deny funding for the Joint Strike Fighter alternate engine, as Republicans sought deep federal spending cuts. The vote was 233-198 and came as part of a debate on current fiscal year spending. The engine program is being developed by General Electric Co. and Rolls Royce Group Plc. and was backed by House Speaker John Boehner.
