Santos posts 15% rise in 2010 profit

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Natural gas supplier Santos Ltd. said Thursday that its fiscal-year net profit rose 15.2% to 500 million Australian dollars ($501.4 million). Revenue rose 2.2% to A$2.2 billion in the 12 months to Dec. 31. "Higher commodity prices were evident across the Santos portfolio in 2010," the firm said. Production declined 8% to 49.9 million barrels of oil equivalent in 2010, as expected. Rain and flooding cut production by around 3 MMboe in the full year, although that was partially offset by higher production from Indonesia and Western Australia.
