Hong Kong shares edge lower in early trading

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Hong Kong stocks declined in early trading on Tuesday, with the Hang Seng Index down 0.4% at 19,661.12. While the Hong Kong market slipped along with other Asia markets amid ongoing concerns about a Greek exit from the euro zone, the losses weren't as steep. Investors bought up shares in Hong Kong heavyweight HSBC Holdings PLC , up 0.7% and also continued to push up shares in Internet firm Tencent Holdings Ltd. , up 1.7%. On the downside, Europe-exposed apparel firm Esprit Holdings Ltd. lost 2.5%, shipping firm Cosco Pacific Ltd. fell 2.1% and Aluminum Corp. of China Ltd. fell 1.5%.
