No Indian boycott of London Olympics: IOC

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- The International Olympic Committee on Friday denied there was any plan by India to boycott the 2012 London Olympics over the city's sponsorship pact with Dow Chemical, the Associated Press reports. The deal has drawn some fire both in India and in Britain because of Dow's connection to the 1984 chemical plant accident in Bhopal that killed 15,000 people. That plant had been owned by Union Carbide, which Dow acquired in 2001. The IOC's denial came in the wake of press reports that the Indian Olympic Association was set to soon vote on a possible boycott, the wire service noted. "Reports of a boycott of the games are not accurate," the IOC said.
