Energy stocks fall as equities drop

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks fell with the broad equities market on Wednesday. The NYSE Arca Oil Index dropped 1.6%. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index fell 1.5%. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index dropped 1.9%. Amoung components of the S&P 500 from the energy sector, Helmerich & Payne and Halliburton Co. fell 2.5% each. Pointing a downward path for energy stocks, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 130 points, or 1.1%.
