Zoll Medical jumps 24% on results, buyback

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Zoll Medical Corp. rose 24% Thursday after the manufacturer of emergency care devices reported better-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter results and said it would buy back its stock. The company said earnings totaled 52 cents a share on sales of $151.9 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were looking for a profit of 49 cents a share on sales of $143 million. Zoll's board greenlighted the repurchase of up to $50 million in common stock.
