Coming up: Consumer inflation, Empire State

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Monthly reports on consumer inflation and manufacturing in the New York region are due to be published at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch expect the consumer price index to remain unchanged in May, which would be the lowest reading in nearly a year. The core rate, which excludes food and energy, likely rose 0.2%. Consumer prices have jumped 3.2% in the 12 months ended in April, the biggest increase since fall 2008. The Empire State manufacturing index, meanwhile, is projected to rise to 13.3% in June from 11.9% in May.
